Ronald T. "Ted" French, 79 of 4716 Sherman Mayville Road, Sherman, N.Y., passed away Feb. 8, 2012, at his home. He was born June 21, 1932 in Petroleum Center, Pa., the son of the late Clara Tracy and Ronald T. French, Sr.

He lived with Brenda Lauer, his caretaker and best friend, his pal Eva Rose Lauer, and his dog Carebear. He loved animals and traveling. He worked at MRC in Jamestown, N.Y., and he was a framer for many years. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was an auto mechanic. He was an avid member of the American Legion and VFW in Mayville, N.Y. He is survived by Brenda Lauer and Eva Rose Lauer of Sherman, N.Y.; one sister, Jean Hornbeck of Madera Calif.; six nieces and one nephew all of Pennsylvania; his dog Carebear; and many friends.

The funeral service was held at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Spitzer Funeral Home in Sherman, N.Y. Visitation were held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday before the service at the funeral home. Burial was in St. Catherines Cemetery, Titusville, Pa. Memorials may be made to the VFW No. 8647 10 Memorial Dr. Mayville, N.Y. 14757 or the American Legion.
