WESTFIELD - Jack K. Kammer, 86, of Springview Drive, Westfield, formerly of Mayville, died Monday (Jan. 23, 2012) at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1926 in Kane, Pa., the son of the late Clifford and Ruth Kissel Kammer.
Jack was a veteran, serving in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He was an architectural representative for Harrington Sandberg Architecture in Jamestown.
Jack was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mayville, IBEW, Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post VFW in Mayville and was a life member of William L. Travis American Legion in Mayville. He had also been a volunteer for Chautauqua County Visitors Bureau.
Jack loved being a pilot, flying his single engine plane.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Carlson Kammer; one son, Timothy S. (JoAnne) Kammer of Mayville; one daughter, Pamela (Dr. Christopher) Powell of Bourbonnais, Ill.; four grandchildren, Eric Kammer of Portland, Ore., Kristin Kammer of Mayville, Jonathan Powell and Kelsey Powell both of Bourbonnais, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Schenker.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville, N.Y. Rev. Dr. Gordon De La Vars will officiate.
