Sherman Central School Wildcat's Den
The Sherman Central School Spotlight Artist for the quarter is senior Tyler Burkett. He has taken art with Tammy Hawkins since he was in ninth grade. Currently he is taking independent art, ceramic/sculpture and drawing/painting.
While in advertising he entered many contests, including Street Jam. His t-shirt design was chosen for the referees. He also entered the Creative Expressions Teenage Pregnancy poster contest and won second place.
Tyler enjoys being with family and friends when he is not at school working at the school's fitness center. When he graduates from high school he will attend SUNY Fredonia for early childhood education.
National Archery in the Schools Program
Thanks to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Sherman received archery equipment worth over $3,000 to be used in the physical education classes. Oct. 11, the physical education teachers attended an instructor-training workshop for the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). The program promotes international-style target archery as part of the in-school curriculum, to improve educational performance and participation in the shooting sports among students in grades 4 through 12. Archery is a life skill everyone can enjoy. With the proper shooting fundamentals and practice, archers will be able to have fun and be successful.
