MAYVILLE - Ruth E. Hall, 95, of Hemlock Drive, Mayville, died Tuesday (Jan. 10, 2012) at her home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1916 in Mount Jewett, Pa., the daughter of the late Elmer and Lillian West Wamsley.
She was a graduate of Mount Jewett High School and had been a beautician in both New York and Pennsylvania for several years.

Ruth was a member of Mayville United Methodist Church, Mayville Senior Citizens and the Tuesday Club at Mayville Library.
Ruth enjoyed painting oil paintings, traveling and playing cards, especially pinochle and cribbage. She loved spending winters in Melbourne, Fla., of which she spent 28 winters there, but most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca D. "Becky" (Harley) Barber of Mayville; one son, Brian (fianc Vidia) Hall of Harborcreek, Pa.; five grandchildren, Aaron Hall, Andy Hall, Adam Hall, Tara Culbreth and Shauna Ellis; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Hall, whom she married June 1, 1940 in Mount Jewett, Pa., and who died Feb. 10, 2004; and four sisters, Florence Swanson, Mabel Swanson, Laura Erickson and Catherine Anderson.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13 in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville. Rev. Cathy Smith, chaplain with Hospice of Chautauqua County officiated. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12 and for one hour prior to the funeral on Friday in the funeral home.
