WESTFIELD — Howard W. “Fergie” Ferguson, 94, of Oak Street, Westfield, died Tuesday (Dec. 27, 2011) in Westfield Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 26, 1917 in Erie, Pa. Howard was a veteran with the US Army Air Corp during World War II. Howard had worked at Welch Foods in Westfield for several years. He is survived by a son, John Paul (Gloria) Ferguson; two daughters, Priscilla Stallsmith and Thea Watkins; two granddaughters, Elyssa Watkins and Rebecca (Christopher) Quirk; two great granddaughters, Angelica and Emily Quirk; daughter-in-law, June Selden Ferguson; sister, Eleanor (John) May; brother, Donald (Beryl) Kurgan; sisters-in-law, Caroline Hunt and Zona Kurgan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Bourne Ferguson Kurgan; father, Henry Ferguson; step-father, Stanley Kurgan; wife, June Hammond Ferguson; son, Ray Ferguson; brother, Paul Kurgan; and sons-in-law, Robert Watkins and Burton Stallsmith. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Freay Funeral Home in Mayville is in charge of arrangements.
