He was born in Westfield, N.Y., on Jan. 10, 1951, the son of Irene Timmerman Gibbs and the late Robert H. Gibbs.
A lifelong resident of the community, Alan was educated in the Ripley school system.
He had been employed at Welch Grape Co. in Westfield, N.Y.; Keystone Grape Juice Corp. in North East, Pa.; and Mogen David Wine Co. of Westfield, N.Y.
For the last 10 years, he was the care giver for his mother.
Alan was a loving and caring person to everyone he met.
Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers, James Gibbs, Robert (Janet) Gibbs and John (Robin) Gibbs, all of Ripley; one sister, Rebecca Gibbs Bretz, also of Ripley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 22 evening at 7 p.m., at the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 West Main Street, Ripley, N.Y.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend the funeral service and called at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22.
