A Maryland resident for over 40 years he was born Oct. 17, 1949 in New York, N.Y., a son of Patricia Hadley Haynes and the late John B. “Jack” Haynes.
He was a 1967 graduate of Panama Central School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University where he was in the ROTC Program. He did his graduate work at the University of Maryland.
Before his retirement he was a speech pathologist working in several school systems in Maryland.
He will be remembered as one who loved living by the ocean. He was an avid runner and enjoyed kayaking in the Atlantic Ocean.
Surviving are his mother of Lakewood, N.Y., a sister, Josephine Haynes Maring of Kennedy, N.Y., a daughter, Jessica C. Pratt of New Hampshire and his nephews and niece, Joshua J. Maring of Brookville, Pa., Clayton D. Maring of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jamie J. Maring of Charlottesville, Va.
He was preceded in death by his father who died March 16, 1998.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 26 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer, pastor of the Fluvanna Community Church, officiated. Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
Friends were received for one hour prior to the service on Monday, Dec. 26.
