A graduate of Clymer Central School, she was the librarian at the French Creek Library for several years. June was also a teacher’s aide at both BOCES in Ashville, N.Y., and at Findley Lake Elementary School until she retired.
She was a life-long member of Abbe Reformed Church and taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. June was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.
In the 1930’s and 40’s she enjoyed playing guitar and singing with a group on the radio. June loved to travel with her husband Ernie. After retiring they visited 48 states and many countries including the Bahamas, France, Italy, Holland, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and Mexico.
In addition to her husband, surviving are her children, Darryl Hinsdale (Cindy) of Jamestown, N.Y., Thomas Hinsdale (Patti) of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mary Jane Hinsdale of San Diego, Calif; two grandsons, Aron of Jamestown and Kipton of Brooklyn, a granddaughter, Lisa Hinsdale of Jamestown, and a great granddaughter, Shannon Barr of Jamestown, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brother Jesse Lookenhouse, sisters Treasa Rhebergen and Geneva Cherry and grandson Eric James Hinsdale.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 16. at the Abbe Reformed Church, Clymer, N.Y. Burial was in Holland Cemetery.
Friends were received from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, N.Y.
