MAYVILLE — David Casler, 69, of Elm Flat Road, Mayville, died Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2011) in his home.
He was born Oct. 24, 1942 in Westfield, N.Y., the son of the late Floyd and Charlotte Thorton Casler.
Dave was a graduate of Mayville Central School and was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
He had been employed by the Village of Mayville working for the Department of Public Works. He had also been a police officer for the Village of Mayville.
Dave belonged to the William L. Travis American Legion and the Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post VFW both in Mayville.
Dave loved driving around enjoying the scenery.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine (Rich) Cooper of Mayville, and Kimberly Casler of North East, Pa.; four grandchildren, Alexandria Earls, Troy Cooper, Cassidy Earls, and Hayley Cooper; one brother, Bill Casler of Greenhurst; and one sister, Roberta (Carl) Vilardo of Westfield.
At David’s request there will be no services or calling hours.
The Freay Funeral Home in Mayville is in charge of arrangements.
