Sheriff’s deputy receives state award

MAYVILLE — Deputy Joshua S. Ostrander is the 2011 New York MADD STOP-DWI Recognition Award recipient for Law Enforcement.

Deputy Ostrander is a 6-year veteran of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to the County DWI enforcement unit. Deputy Ostrander was presented this award at the annual New York State MADD STOP-DWI awards banquet on Nov. 15 in Schenectady, N.Y. He was recognized for his enforcement efforts as well as his involvement in community programs, such as mock DWI and educational presentations, Child Passenger Safety Technician, Kids Sate Program and is an instructor a the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy.
