Over the Backyard Fence in Sherman 11/10/11

November 16, 2011
By ELAINE G. COLE - COLUMNIST

Basketball season has begun in Sherman Central School for some teams. The jayvee players are practicing and the first modified girls' basketball game is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 14 against the Cassadaga Valley team. There will be no school on Veterans' Day, Friday, Nov. 11. If the sky is clear on Thursday, Nov. 10, you will be able to see the full moon. I anticipate going to the Family Life dinner theater in Williamsville on that night and hope we'll see that Beaver moon. I don't know for sure where that name came from, but perhaps from the Indians. It fits nowadays anyway because the trapping season is in full swing. Nor do I know if there are a lot of trappers around. However, I do know some Amish lads have been getting coon in their traps. Happy birthday greetings Nov. 11: Larry Rater, Michaela Young Nov. 12: James Robert Beads, James Robert DeLellis, Mark Miller, Christopher Wassink Nov. 13: Scotty Baran, Autumn Jane Eimers, Matthew Ohman, Janette Robson, Kristin Rowan Irwin Nov. 14: D'Atra Davis, Perry Dewy Jr., Max Clayton Starvaggi Nov. 15: Tiara Billmire, Anna Doncavage, Craig Lee Endress, Tracy Gleason, Patrick Swanson Nov. 16: Daphne Carris, Matt McCray, Christine Olson. Happy anniversary greetings No anniversaries this week.
