JAMESTOWN — Marcelle Deault, 28, Ashville was charged with fraudulent receipt of benefits, fourth-degree grand larceny and misuse of food stamps on Monday, Sept. 26.

According to the sheriff’s office, Deault was arrested at 12:45 p.m. and issued appearance tickets with a date to appear in Jamestown City Court. Deault allegedly failed to report to the Department of Social Services that she had started working in February of 2011. This allowed her to receive $1,948.64 in food stamp and Medicaid benefits to which she was not entitled.

JAMESTOWN — Ashley Sprague, 25, of Old Mill Street in Brocton was charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud and first-degree 12 counts of offering a false instrument for filing on Thursday, Sept. 29.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sprague allegedly claimed child care for times she was not at her employment, thus receiving $1,186.50 in child care payments to which she was not entitled. She was issued appearance tickets at 12:45 p.m. and will appear in Jamestown City Court on a later date.

SHERMAN — Leslie Kopta IV, 38, of Belknap Road in Sherman was charged with speed, uninspected motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI blood alcohol content 0.18 percent or greater on Thursday, Sept. 29.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies stopped Kopta for traveling at a high rate of speed at 8 p.m. on Hart Street. Further investigation found Kopta was allegedly operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Kopta was processed and released with traffic tickets for the above charges. Kopta will appear in court on a later date.

PORTLAND — Wendy G. Palmer, 41, of West Main Street in Brocton was charged with petit larceny and trespass on Thursday, Sept. 29.

According to the sheriff’s office, a call was received around 6:30 p.m. from a landowner who stated there was a subject on her property on Blood Street taking items that did not belong to her. The homeowner went out and confronted the subject. Upon the arrival of deputies, it was discovered Palmer had allegedly gone onto property which did not belong to her and was allegedly taking items that also did not belong to her. Palmer was issued appearance tickets and will appear in Portland Town Court on a later date.

RIPLEY — Loren G. Cline, 37, of Hinman Road in Lockport was charged with inadequate headlamps and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Friday, Sept. 30.

According to the sheriff’s office, Cline was stopped around 7:45 p.m. by deputies on Route 20 in the Town of Ripley for inadequate headlamps. After further investigation, Cline allegedly was operating the vehicle on a suspended New York State driver’s license. He was issued tickets and will appear in Ripley Town Court on a later date.

RIPLEY — David R. Bartlebaugh, 32, of West Main Road in Ripley was charged with failure to yield the right away and driving while intoxicated on Friday, Sept. 30.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to Route 20 in the Town of Ripley around 9:15 p.m. for a property damage accident. A pick-up truck operated by Bartlebaugh failed to yield the right away and collided with an eastbound tractor trailer. After further investigation, it was alleged that Bartlebaugh was intoxicated. He was issued appearance tickets and will appear in Ripley Town Court on a later date.
