NORTH EAST — A Ripley resident’s car was damaged in a two-car accident in North East, Pa. on Sept. 9.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, both Kevin M. Newell, 29, of North East, Pa., who was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup, and James E. Burchick, 79, of Ripley, who was driving a 2001 Buick LeSabre, were driving on Route 20 in North East when the accident occurred.

Newell was allegedly driving west, and Burchick was allegedly driving east, both in the left lanes of their side of traffic.

Newell’s front left tire fell off the vehicle and hit Burchick’s vehicle. Newell’s vehicle came to rest in the left lane 200 feet after the tire fell off. Burchick’s vehicle sustained heavy damage, but was able to be moved from the road.

Neither was injured in the accident, and no charges were filed.
