To kick off the celebration, there was a casual old time hot dog roast and a bonfire at the Westfield Fish and Game Club on Friday afternoon and evening. David and Ann Cockram (Class of 1955) and other members of the Chautauqua Cruisers auto club were present with their antique cars. What a thrill to be able to have this added attraction at such a special time for all to enjoy. A team of classmates participated in an arranged “trap shoot” by Jim Van Dyke with Mary Ann Fauler of Tennesse, again, carrying bragging rights with a very bruised shoulder and Joe Vilardo of South Carolina taking over the winners circle at the ladderball game. An evening of laughter and sharing memories was enjoyed by all.
With Saturday evening’s buffet dinner at the Caddy Shack at the Sugar Hill Golf Course, there were hors d’oeuvres and a social hour before dinner and lots of memories shared again. A special prayer and remembrance of the deceased classmates was memorialized by class president Joe Vilardo. Many of the classmates attended the Alumi Dance at Eason Hall following the festivities at Caddy Shack.
Those classmates still in town met at the annual Westfield Firemen’s Ox Roast at Ottaway Park on Sunday to bring the 56th class reunion to a close.
Classmates attended from the states of New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Nova Scotia in Canada, Florida, Tennessee, Texas and Pennsylvania.
A special thank you to the reunion committee for making this another successful reunion weekend which was spearheaded by Jim Van Dyke.
