ELLICOTTVILLE — On Sunday, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., an Introduction to Membership Farming will be held. Consumer demand for Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs) has risen sharply in recent years, especially in Western New York. As this demand continues to grow, so does the need for new CSAs in this region.
Those considering starting a CSA at your farm won’t want to miss this day-long introduction to running a membership farm. Join Stew Ritchie of Native Offerings Farm, David Schummer of Canticle Farms and Dan Oles of Promised Land CSA for a discussion of member recruitment, crop planning, share pricing, member communications and a whole host of other topics that will get participants started on the road to running a successful CSA. The morning session will be hosted at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany/Cattaraugus County 28 Parkside Drive, Ellicottville, N.Y. 14731. The afternoon will be spent at Native Offerings Farm. Lunch and refreshments will be served.
Pre-registration is required. There is a cost for this field day. Register by calling Katie at (585) 271-1979 ext. 512 or emailing email@example.com. Registration can also be done online at www.nofany.org and selecting the event page.
Support for the program is provided by the USDA Risk Management Agency, Small Sessions Program, the Heifer-MORE Fund, and Farm Family Insurance.
