MAYVILLE — Two high school students at Chautauqua Lake Central School have been awarded prizes by regional and New York state women’s clubs.

Tabetha Bedner, grade 12, has won first place in both the Western New York Federation of Women’s Clubs and the New York State Federation of Women’s Clubs 2011 Creative Writing Contest. Her work, titled “The Diary,” will now go on to be judged at the national level when the General Federation of Women’s Clubs holds its annual convention June 18-20 at Milwaukee.

Jordyn Cucinotta, grade 11, was awarded second place for her “Poem of Love.”

Certificates, ribbons and money were presented to the winners at a school function June 6 by Dianne Goodrich, the president of the Mayville Tuesday Club which sponsored both students.

Tuesday Club, formed in 1895, is a member of the WNYFWC (1896) which is an associate member of the NYSFWC.
