CHAUTAUQUA — A Dayton, Pa., man was charged with driving while intoxicated.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Sunday, July 31 at 4:30 a.m., deputies investigated a property damage accident which occurred at the intersection of Chautauqua Stedman Road and Route 394 in the Town of Chautauqua. Zachary J. Swan, 23, of Mahoning Road in Dayton, Pa., was allegedly operating a vehicle north on Chautauqua Stedman Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign, striking a road sign and damag a sign on the Chautauqua Institution property. Swan was uninjured and further investigation found him to allegedly be intoxicated.
Swan was charged with DWI, DWI per se, failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to maintain lane. Swan will appear in Chautauqua Town Court on a later date.
KIANTONE — Two Westfield residents were involved in a minor personal injury accident.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 2:30 p.m., Mary C. Cash, 74, of Westfield was the operator of a 2009 Ford passenger car traveling south on Route 60 and Danette M. Battle, 51, of Jamestown was the operator of a 2008 Buick traveling west on Peck Settlement Road. Cash allegedly failed to stop at the red light and struck Battle’s vehicle. Anthony Cash, 78, of Westfield was a passenger in the Ford and Bradley Lawrence, 23, of Jamestown was a passenger in the Buick.
All were transported to WCA Hospital with minor injuries, except for Lawrence who was uninjured. Mary Cash was issued a traffic summons for failure to stop at a red light.
