According to Board of Education Officers, President Marie Edwards and Vice President Tony Pisicoli, New York State Education law requires that each local board appoint an individual who is certified as a school district administrator and is given the authority to run the day-to-day operations of the district. Her duties include enforcing state education laws and regulations, overseeing curriculum, signing contracts and official documents, supervising staff, student programs, and school facilities. Sauer will serve as WACS Acting Superintendent until August 31, at which time her title will change to Interim Superintendent.
Edwards, Pisicoli and the other board members are pleased to welcome Sauer back to the district.
“We are glad to have someone who knows the district and community and can help the board and staff move forward in many positive directions,” Edwards said. “She will be a familiar face to many staff, students, and parents.”
“I am honored to be asked to return to WACS’ administrative team,” Sauer said. “I sincerely look forward to working with the Westfield Board of Education, staff, and community once again. As an interim administrator, I hope to provide positive leadership, gain the trust and cooperation of the community, and support the staff in providing the best possible education for our children. In view of the economy and the uncertainty of educational funding and legislation, I know that we will face many difficult challenges this year. We will most definitely need the help and cooperation of all of our stakeholders. I will welcome anyone who wishes to contact me to share their thoughts an suggestions. “
Sauer can be reached at 326-2151, ext. 217.
