FINDLEY LAKE — A Clymer woman was transported to a hospital after falling asleep at the wheel of her vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Wednesday, July 6 at 6:15 p.m., deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on West Main Street in Findley Lake. Leslie E. Oster, 53, of Route 426 in Clymer allegedly fell asleep while operating her vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a utility pole head on. Oster was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. She was transported to Cory, Pa., hospital as a precaution due to the accident.
Oster was issued traffic tickets for no seat belt driver and moved from lane unsafely and will appear in Mina Town Court on a later date.
RIPLEY — A Westfield woman was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Friday, July 8 at 10 p.m., deputies allegedly observed a vehicle traveling west on Route 20 in the Town of Ripley with only one working headlight. Deputies performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver was identified as Leana M. Melnick, 30, of Pearl Street in Westfield. It was allegedly determined that Melnick’s driving privileges were revoked in New York State.
Melnick was issued traffic tickets for third degree AUO and inadequate headlamps and will appear in Ripley Town Court on a later date.
ELLERY — A Sherman woman was charged with speeding and aggravated unlicensed operation.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Saturday, July 9 at 12:45 a.m., deputies stopped Brenda L. Lauer, 34, of Sherman-Mayville Road in Sherman for allegedly speeding. A subsequent license check revealed that Lauer’s operating privilege in New York State had allegedly been suspended on July 3, 2010 and on Aug. 6, 2009.
Lauer was taken into custody, charged with speeding and third degree AUO and later released with appearance tickets for Ellery Town Court.
