A tumultuous era at Westfield Academy and Central School has come to an end.
On Tuesday evening, Westfield school board members announced the resignation of Superintendent Mark Sissel. Sissel, who has been a source of controversy since questionable personal expense reports became public in May 2009, also had plenty of supporters.
But it is time to move on for the district, which would not announce details of the separation agreement.
That is a typical practice. When an employee, especially those making six figures, does something well - or earns a promotion in the public sector, that is normally something highly promoted and touted. That promotion is a personnel issue.
The resignation also is a personnel issue. But, unfortunately for the public, the board did not further discuss any information.
