WESTFIELD — Westfield alumni and the public are invited to celebrate and honor Westfield Academy and Central School classmates, faculty and staff that have passed away.
The fourth annual WACS Spirit Day will be held on Sunday, July 10 at 11 a.m. Departed classmates, faculty, and staff will be recognized by having their names read aloud to the crowd, followed by a blue or white balloon being released to the lake winds. Over the past few years, hundreds of deceased friends have been recognized in this special way, and it is hoped that the number will continue to grow.
Spirit Day will again take place Ox Roast Sunday. Balloons will be provided for $1 each starting at 10:30 a.m. and will be biodegradable and helium filled. Balloons reservations will also be available at the Reunion Dance on Saturday night. The name of each honored individual will be announced as the balloon is set free.
Spirit Day is not a religious service, but rather a special way to remember in our hearts and minds our friends who are no longer with us. The hope is every class will be represented and every student or staff member will be remembered by their classmates, friends, or family.
Come and talk with old and new friends surrounded by the beauty of Barcelona Harbor. Celebrate Spirit Day with us and make this a meaningful new tradition to keep our WACS past, present and future alive.
