WESTFIELD — A Blasdell woman was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail after being charged with burglary.
According to police, on Sunday, June 19 at 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to 24 Cottage Street in the Village of Westfield for a burglary. Upon arrival, police spoke with the homeowner, who advised them that a safe with multiple belongings was allegedly stolen from the residence. Upon further investigation, police were able to locate the safe, allegedly in the possession of Jennifer Hite, 29, of Buffalo Avenue in Blasdell. Hite allegedly entered the residence through a window and stole the safe. While the safe was in Hite’s possession, she allegedly damaged it attempting to gain access.
Hite was charged with second degree burglary, third degree grand larceny, third degree criminal mischief and third degree criminal possession of stolen property. This list includes four felonies. She was arraigned in Westfield Village Court and bail was set at $12,000 cash or $25,000 property. Hite awaits her next court appearance in jail.
WESTFIELD — A 19-year-old from Depew was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop.
According to police, on Wednesday, June 22 at 6:15 a.m. officers stopped a 19-year-old from Depew for a traffic infraction. During the investigation, it was alleged that the unnamed Depew resident was in possession of a loaded hand gun.
The unnamed 19-year-old was arrested and charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, speed in zone and expired inspection. They were arraigned by Judge Laporte and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on $2,000 cash and $8,000 property bail.
The 19-year-old’s name was not released based on their youthful offender status, which covers offenders between the ages of 16 and 19.
