WESTFIELD - There will be two new faces on the Village of Westfield Board after residents elected Republicans Rick Raynor and Dave Brooker during the village’s elections on Tuesday, March 16.
Brooker earned 176 votes, while Raynor gathered 189.
Meanwhile, Democrat incumbent Bill Thompson received 158 votes. Democrat Claudia Monroe earned 89 votes.
“I’m pleased with the results of the election,” said Lou Habig, chair of the Westfield Republican Committee. “I think they’re both very well qualified.”
Westfield Mayor Dave Carr said he was pleased with the vote, but said the board was losing valuable experience in losing Thompson and Fred Bertrando from the board. Bertrando did not seek re-election.
“I’m pleased with the results,” Carr said. “We’re losing some experience.”
Peter Baker, chair of the Westfield Democrat Committee said, while he was disappointed, the new board members still deserved cooperation.
