Wineries and artist team up for special event

March 4, 2010
Westfield Republican

WESTFIELD - To commemorate the new Wine & Art Event, on March 20-21, the event’s sponsors will host a special Wineries and Artists Reception on Thursday at South Shore Wine Company in North East, Pa.

Featured and recognized at this evening event will be several artists from The Resource Center (TRC), a not-for-profit organization in Chautauqua County dedicated to serving persons with disabilities.

One of the perennial concerns of the wineries of the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Wine Trail has been the need for responsible drinking. It is the reason that on event weekends, wineries limit the number of servings provided, realizing that event goers will be visiting multiple wineries.

It is the reason that wineries advocate moderation and have spit buckets available.

And it is the reason that the 21 wineries will be holding a Wineries and Artists reception on Thursday to commemorate the new Wine & Art Weekend, but also to recognize the special artists from The Resource Center.

TRC is an organization dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities, some of whom have suffered traumatic brain injuries due to alcohol-related accidents and others who have spent their lives trying to overcome challenges resulting from fetal alcohol syndrome.

The ChautauquaLake Erie Wine Trail and its event collaborators, the North East Arts Council and the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Art Trail, are also pleased to announce details of its inaugural Wine and Art Weekend, March 20-21, in which 21 wineries will celebrate the natural pairing of wine and art.

More than 30 artists will be featured.

Details can be found at www.chautauquaarttrail.com as well as at www.northeastartscouncil.org.

Ticketholders will have an opportunity to learn not only about wine, but also about art from the artists “in residence” for the two-day event including painters, glass blowers, and photographers.

The Trail sells both a weekend ticket and a Sunday Only ticket - which includes tastings, wine glass, two-bottle tote bag, and a $5 voucher.
