Dear Editor,Brocton-Fredonia Citizens for Centralization, who in recent months worked for a merger of the two districts, thanks supporters and volunteers who assisted during its recent campaign. Brenda Hayes, who co-chaired with Richard Ketcham, said “while none of us believes that the choice made is the best for our children and community, we will find new ways to live by our value of educational opportunities for all.” Hayes stated that the group “pulled together a great team of supporters, who committed many volunteer hours to the effort.” She said that the citizens group grew to 300 and that its members assisted in a variety ways in the campaign – from those who offered financial and in-kind assistance, to volunteers who placed yard signs, signed petitions and helped in many other various capacities. The committee also commended Erie 2 Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES District Superintendent Robert Guiffreda for his support of the districts and Superintendents Jack Skahill, Paul DiFonzo as well as both school boards for their leadership and outstanding job disseminating information to district residents.
