Class D Football Honors Announced

Senior Chris Secky of the league champion Maple Grove Red Dragons and sophomore Cody DiDomenico of the Panama Panthers were named the offensive players of the year in Class D West football for the 2009 season.





The defensive players of the year are senior Matt Fox of Maple Grove and senior Dan Wiggers of the Clymer Pirates.





Seniors Andrew Wascher of Maple Grove and Zack Marsh of Panama are the lineman of the year.





Chris Payne of Panama was named coach of the year as the result of 4-1 league record and a No. 4 seed in the Section 6 Class D Playoffs.





Co-offensive player of the year Secky passed for 1,144 yards with eight touchdowns and ran for 276 yards with six touchdowns as Maple Grove went 5-0 in the league and 8-2 overall.





Cody DiDomenico rushed for 919 yards with six 100-yard rushing games, 11 touchdowns and 10 receptions for 69 yards to lead Panama.





Fox was tops in tackles for Maple Grove with with 75 assisted and 42 solos. He also recorded three sacks, four blocked punts, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.





Wiggers made 117 tackles with 51 being solos. He also recorded a sack and an interception for Clymer.





Secky, Fox and Wascher were joined by Maple Grove senior fullback Taylor Rosenberg, junior wide receiver Gage Milliman and junior defensive back Jordan Saxton on the First Team.





DiDomenico and Marsh were selected to the First Team along with offensive lineman Zach Dunham, defensive back Derek Fye and linebacker Greg Johnson for Panama.





Wiggers represented Clymer as did senior running back Nick Heil and sophomore lineman Ryan Phelps.





The Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds had four selections on the First Team and they were senior wide receiver Jordan Reynolds and senior defensive back Mike Russin plus junior linebackers Steve Kenny and Camden Baker.





Senior Jake Damcott was an offensive lineman and classmate Ben Crane was a defensive end selection from Sherman.





Rounding out the squad from Westfield are senior Cortland Knopp at lineman and sophomore Brent Morrison as the punter.





The All-Academic Team had Baker representing Chautauqua Lake, Rosenberg of Maple Grove, Jacob Roberts of Panama, Jake Horstman of Sherman and Elias Manzella of Westfield.





Clymer won the team sportsmanship award.
