RIPLEY – For the owners of Bitz ‘n Pizzas, pizza has been a family affair.
The Ripley pizza shop is owned by Eric Dingle and Andrea Lindstrom. Ms. Lindstrom’s parents own and operate CJ’s Pizza in Westfield.
“We started out helping them (CJ’s) out a little bit and getting their foot in the door there,” Dingle said. “This came about, so we decided why not.”
Located at 66 W. Main Street, Ripley, Bitz ‘n Pizzas offers a variety of items including an assortment of pizzas, calzones, salads, subs and chicken wings. The restaurant is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3-9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
“It (business) started out well, but I think with the way the economy has gone it really slowed down a lot,” Dingle said, adding the business usually sees busy spurts at the beginning of each month.
The restaurant also features an all-you-can-eat wings deal every Wednesday for $10 and $5 for children. There is also ice cream available throughout the year, delivery is available and the shop offers new release DVDs for customers to rent.
“We do tons of stuff,” Dingle said. “We do a special item every week. We do lunch specials here.”
Customers can even create their own pizzas and other items, Dingle said.
“There’s a lot of people that just come here for our specialty pizzas,” he said. “We have a ton of them and there’s a ton of stuff. Any oddball thing, we’ll make. If you’ve heard of it, we’ll make it.”
Dingle also said he may install a WiFi connection so customers can use their laptops while at the shop.
“That’s something we’ve been wanting to do,” he said.
Dingle hopes to make Bitz ‘n Pizzas an active part of the community.
“All of the community stuff with the firehall we participate in,” he said. “It’s such a small town that you can’t.”
