Enter the Westfield Apothecary and Michael Cave of Brocton.
“We are the fourth store of a group of stores called the Care Center,” said Maryann Godlewski, Westfield Apothecary supervising pharmacist. “Mr. Cave felt at that time that people deserved a choice of providers for pharmacy. So, he decided to re-lease this space. We re-leased it, and he gutted it and remodeled it totally and decided an independent (store) was needed here.”
Opened in April 2007, the Westfield Apothecary features a variety of medicines, along with vitamins and health supplements, first aid items and diabetic supplies.
“Our bend at this moment is primarily the medicine side,” Ms. Godlewski said. “We’re trying to do a good range of things.”
And, when a customer walks into the shop located at 53 Main Street, Westfield, they won’t find some of the things which can be found in larger pharmacies, Ms. Godlewski said.
“It’s the broad range of pharmacy front end (items) without the holiday things, without the candy for Christmas, without the one-hour photo processing,” she said. “It’s small. When you walk in here, you don’t have to walk a mile and a half to get to the prescription counter.”
Ms. Godlewski also said Westfield Apothecary provides customers with a sense of comfort and a friendly environment.
“We want people to feel that we know them, that we know what medicines they are on and ensure we provide those medicines at the most reasonable rates possible,” she said.
The apothecary also goes a long way to ensure its customers are happy. If the pharmacy does not carry a certain item, Ms. Godlewski said she will try to order the item, and the pharmacy will deliver or mail prescriptions.
“We do offer free delivery,” Ms. Godlewski said. “They call us and we set up their orders and deliver. If you have an issue and you can’t get here, call. We’ll wait for you, we’ll deliver for you.”
While she currently lives in Erie, Pa., Ms. Godlewski said she is trying to find a home in Westfield.
“I like small towns. I’ve always liked Westfield,” she said. “We’re really excited to be here. We’re excited to give people a choice, and we’re excited to give people a fair price. We try very, very hard to help you.”
