So busy, in fact, that he needed help.
“I already knew Dr. Gary and Cindy Eggleston and through some mutual friends I met Dr. Mark Hagen,” Dr. Brautigam said. “Once the three doctors got together, it just kept growing.”
And so the groundwork for Westfield Family Physicians was laid, and, on Friday, September 18, the business celebrated its 30th anniversary.
“The time goes by quickly,” Dr. Brautigam said.
With its main office located at 138 East Main Street in Westfield, the business also has an office located at 115 East Main Street, Sherman. While times and individual providers’ schedules may vary, the Westfield office is open Monday through Saturday. Meanwhile, the office in Sherman is open Monday through Friday.
“We offer all sorts of pediatric services, adult medical services,” Dr. Brautigam said. “We do lumps and bumps, small office surgery in the office and some specialized testing here and at the hospital.”
Featuring seven doctors, Dr. Brautigam said Westfield Family Physicians has around 1,200 active patients. Not only do the doctors just practice medicine, but many travel around the world on missions to help others. According to the practice’s Web site, www.wfpweb.net, doctors have visited places such as Kenya, Alaska, Ecuador, Sudan, Bangladesh, Ghana and Costa Rica.
“As a practical expression of their Christian faith,” the Web site said, “individual doctors from Westfield Family Physicians will occasionally go on sabbaticals for periods of up to three months while they volunteer their services at mission hospitals around the world.”
Westfield Family Physicians is also the parent company of Great Lakes Medical Research, according to the business’s Web site. The company has conducted medical trials in many areas including Diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and urology.
“Great Lakes Medical Research has participated in a number of clinical trials with the National Institutes of Health, Duke University/Research Triangle, Clinical Trials Network at Columbia University, University of Buffalo Medical School, and the Cleveland Clinic Cardiovascular Coordinating Center,” the Web site said. “Great Lakes Medical Research has also worked with a number of pharmaceutical companies.”
