Andrew F. Johnson Jr. TitanX Engine Cooling vice president of human resources, recently earned certification as a global professional in human resources. Johnson has human resources responsibilities for the TitanX plants in Jamestown, and Linkoping and Mjallby Sweden. The certification, awarded by the HR Certification Institute, signifies that Johnson possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in international human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field. The HR Certification Institute awards two other levels of certification: professional in human resources and senior professional in human resources. Johnson previously earned both the PHR and SPHR certifications. Johnson is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and the local chapter PANY-SHRM. He previously served as human resources manager for Foamex International before joining Valeo in 2003. In 2008, Valeo sold the plants that are now known as TitanX to EQT a private equity firm based in Stockholm, Sweden. ‘‘Today, more than 98,000 HR professionals hold a certification from The HR Certification Institute which demonstrates a mastery of key HR principles,’’ said Mary Power, CAE executive director. To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource knowledge and experience. Johnson recently attended the Global HR Conference held in Toronto and sat for the exam after the completion of the conference. The HR Certification Institute is the credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management, the world’s largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession. The HR Certification Institute’s purpose is to promote the establishment of professional standards and to recognize professionals who meet those standards.
