May 3, 2009
MAYVILLE – The Mayville area restaurant La Fleur has joined rare company by being honored with AAA’s Four Diamond award. According to AAA, just 2.8 percent of the 27,000 restaurants rated by the automobile service company in the United states, Canada, Mexico and Caribbean receive the Four Diamond designation. Not only has the restaurant received the distinguished honor, but this is the second consecutive year it has been honored by AAA with the prestigious award. La Fleur, located at 5031 W. Lake Road, Mayville, is one of only 48 restaurants in New York to received the award. ‘‘AAA Four Diamond Award winners such as La Fleur, consistently deliver premier experiences, complete with superior personal service, superb cuisine and impressive surroundings,’’ said Jim Lehman, AAA East Central senior vice president. ‘‘We are delighted to present La Fleur with its second award.’’ The Diamond ratings are included in each lodging and restaurant listing in the 2009 AAA TourBook guide and the company’s Web site – www.AAA.com. AAA’s 50 million members receive the guides to assist with travel-related decisions. Jonathan Haloua, La Fleur operations director, said the restaurant is honored with AAA recognition. ‘‘At La Fleur, we are committed to providing a premier dining experience to all of our guests by consistently exceeding expectations.’’ Haloua said. ‘‘This award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our staff.’’ The restaurant located at the Red Brick marketplace provides a romantic atmosphere in a historic Victorian home. Attention to detail is apparent in the gardens overlooked by the restaurant and its French countryside decor. ‘‘Our constantly evolving menu is based on the freshest local ingredients available, and our weekly chef’s tasting menu utilizes the best seasonal ingredients sourced through a variety of local farms and suppliers or grown in our own garden,’’ Haloua said. AAA’s Diamond rating system is the only one that covers all of North America and one of only two that conduct physical, on-site evaluations. It is the only system that uses full-time professionally trained evaluators to inspect each property on an annual basis using a set of guidelines that are made available to the establishments. AAA said it evaluates more properties than any other rating entity. AAA Four Diamond restaurant criteria includes that an establishment impart a luxurious and socially refined experience, which is consistent to fine dining. Menus must reflect a high-degree of creativity and complexity, featuring elaborate presentations of market-driven or traditional dishes. A cultured, professional and proficient staff must demonstrate a profound desire to meet or exceed guest expectations. Restaurants of this caliber are geared to individuals with an appetite for a fine-dining experience. AAA East Central is a not-for-profit organization with 80 local offices in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and New York, servicing 2.5 million members.
