Blackstone Receives Patriotic Employer Award
May 3, 2009
Blackstone Business Enterprises, a local custom sheet metal manufacturer, has received the Patriotic Employer Award from the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The award is given to supportive managers, supervisors or the company to show appreciation from their military-member employee. Criteria considered to receive this recognition includes keeping in touch with their employee-soldier, recognizing them for their military service, and providing continued support for their service. In the past several years, Blackstone has maintained employee status for several active duty soldiers deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq. Employee Nathaniel Weyrick, currently in Taji, Iraq, submitted Blackstone for this award before he left for duty last July. Weyrick is a field mechanic with the Indiana National Guard and a robotic welder operator for Blackstone. He is looking forward to coming home to his family and friends sometime this summer. “I am very proud of these young men and women who serve their country and fight for the rights and privileges we enjoy as citizens of the United States,’’ said Daniel Black, Blackstone owner. ‘‘It goes without question that Blackstone would support them any way we can.” Black himself has two sons and a daughter-in-law serving in the military, with one son to be deployed to Iraq this summer. ‘‘Blackstone would like to again thank and honor its many employees, family and friends that serve their country. And a special thanks to Nate for nominating Blackstone for this recognition,’’ Black said.
