Buying Forever Stamps now saves pennies later
April 26, 2009
BUFFALO — The last day to purchase the Forever Stamp for 42 cents is May 10. When First-Class postage increases two pennies to 44 cents on May 11, the price of the Forever Stamp increases, too. “Customers are running out of time to purchase the Forever Stamp at the current price,” said Manager Customer Relations Diane Mineo. “Forever Stamps purchased before May 11 can still be used on First-Class Mail after May 11 without having to add the extra postage.” The Postal Service created the Forever Stamp to ease the transition during price changes. As its name suggests, the Forever Stamp can be used to mail a one-ounce letter regardless of the current price of a First-Class Mail stamp. Forever Stamps are available in booklets of 20. Also, on May 11, the Postal Service is introducing Forever Stamp envelopes; customers looking to get ahead of subsequent price changes can order these personalized envelopes at 1-800-STAMP-24. The Postal Service has an ample supply of Forever Stamps. As a reminder, customers don’t need to go to the Post Office to buy them. They are available to order online at usps.com, by phone at 1-800-STAMP-24, or at one of 500 Western NY grocery stores, pharmacies, convenient stores, and bank locations that sell postage at face-value. To find a stamp vendor near you, go to usps.whitepages.com/post—office or call 1-800-ASK-USPS.
