Chautauqua County Sheriff’s
n Randy Smith, 49, of East Lake Road, Mayville, was arrested on May 25th and charged with obstructing government administration in the second degree and disorderly conduct.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Chautauqua Institution Police responded to the Hartfield Bay Café to assist EMS personnel with a combative subject.
After an investigation, Smith was charged. It is alleged that Smith obstructed the EMTs in the performance of their duties and acted in a disorderly manner in a public place.
He will appear in Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
n On May 24th at approximately 11:20 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies working an underage drinking detail stopped a vehicle on South Erie Street in the Village of Mayville. Two of the passengers in the vehicle stated that they did not have identification and gave their names and dates of birth. Deputies warned the individuals that lying about their name or date of birth is a crime and again asked the subjects for the information and the same information was provided.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Brian C. Shideler, 19, of Califon, N.J. and Sean B. Myers, 19, of Pittsburgh, Pa. had given false birthdates because they had been drinking underage. Shideler and Myers were arrested and charged with false impersonation. They were issued appearance tickets and released to a sober third party.
They will answer the charges of Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
n Bruce R. Carlson, 45, of Nazareth Road, Clymer, was operating a motorcycle traveling north on North Road in the Town of Mina when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. The motorcycle struck a small earth embankment, causing it to become airborne. Upon striking the ground, Carlson was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in a resident’s yard. Carlson sustained injuries to his left arm and shoulder and was transported to Hamot Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
n On May 24th, Deputies observed Vicky Walters, 47, of Forest Ave., Jamestown, driving without a seatbelt on Route 20 in the Village of Brocton.
Upon further investigation, Walters was found to have a suspended driver’s license in New York State.
Walters was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and driving without a seatbelt.
She was issued tickets and will appear in Village of Brocton Court at a later date.
n On May 17th at approximately 6 p.m. on Vineyard Drive in the City of Dunkirk, Tracie M. Lorenzo allegedly confronted a Westfield woman in the area of Tanning Bed on Vineyard Drive.
During the confrontation, Lorenzo allegedly made several threats to the woman. She was issued an appearance ticket and will be in Dunkirk City Court at a later date.
n Michelle L. Gilbert, 38, of Elm Street, Mayville, was arrested on May 24th on North Erie Street, Mayville, and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, less than two rear brake lights and failure to notify DMV of an address change.
Deputies stopped Gilbert for having less than two rear brake lights. Further investigation led to finding out that Gilbert has a suspended driver’s license in New York State.
She was issued tickets for the above charges and will be in Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
n Theresa M. Rushforth, 29, of Mayville, was arrested on May 24th at approximately 2 a.m. on South Erie Street in Mayville and charged with no headlights, felony DWI and having a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more.
Rushforth was stopped on South Erie Street for driving without any headlights.
After an investigation, it was found that Rushforth was intoxicated.
She will be in Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
n Leslie Kopta, 34, of Mann Road, Mina, was involved in a one-car personal injury accident on North Road in the Town of Mina on May 23rd.
After an investigation, Kopta was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI Per Se, no seatbelt, no front license plate, no proof of insurance, moving from lane unsafely, driving too far left at a hillcrest and speed not reasonable and prudent. Kopta was issued traffic citations and will appear in Town of Mina Court at a later date.
