NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a man has died after the SUV he was driving hit a public bus that was stopped at a red light, then collided with a light pole before flipping over on a busy midtown Manhattan avenue.
Police in New York City say emergency workers responded to Sixth Avenue and West 41st Street near Bryant Park at about 4 p.m. Friday.
They say the 44-year-old driver was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead. The man wasn't immediately identified.
Police say investigators believe the 2007 Cadillac flipped over after hitting the Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus and then a light pole. There were no other injuries reported and they say the bus driver remained at the scene.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
