HAMAR, Norway (AP) — Dutch racers dominated the European Speed Skating Championships on Saturday with Jan Blokhuijsen winning the men's 5,000-meter event and defending champion Ireen Wust clinching the 500 and 3,000 races.

Blokhuijsen finished in 6 minutes, 15.89 seconds before countryman Douwe de Vries and Belgium's Bart Swings.

Wust narrowly won the opening 500 in 38.77, only .03 ahead of Czech Karolina Erbanova. Russia's Yuliya Skokova was third.

Wust clocked 4:02.02 in the 3,000, beating Yvonne Nauta of the Netherlands. Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic was third.

The men's 500 race was won by Norway's Havard Bokko in 35.99, slightly faster than Konrad Niedzwiedzki and Zbigniew Brodka, both from Poland.

Six-time European champion Sven Kramer, who will lead the Dutch contingent at the Sochi Games, didn't line up in Hamar.
