75-year-old man struck, killed by car in NYC

January 2, 2014
Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a 75-year-old man crossing a Brooklyn street has been struck and killed after a two-car crash.

The NYPD says Thursday Xiaoci Hu was struck Thursday just before 7 a.m. crossing Seventh Avenue on 56th Street in the Sunset Park neighborhood.

Investigators believe a Toyota Camry traveling with the green light slowed down to let Hu cross the street. They say a 1995 red Jeep Cherokee driving behind the Camry slammed into the back of it, causing the Camry to hit Hu.

Police say emergency workers took Hu to Lutheran Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

They say both drivers remained at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
