NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a fire tore through a home in Brooklyn, killing a 16-year-old girl and leaving two of her sisters with life-threatening injuries.
The Fire Department says five people were taken to hospitals from the fire at about 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Police identified the girl as Jasmine Guillaume. She and her 24- and 27-year-old sisters were found unresponsive in a third-floor bathroom at the home on East Eighth Street.
The teenager was pronounced dead on arrsival at a hospital. Her sisters are hospitalized in critical condition.
Police say two other women in the home are hospitalized in stable condition. Both are in their 50s.
More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze. It was under control by about 6:30 a.m.
The Fire Department says the home had no working smoke detectors.
