BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) — A trial date has been scheduled for an upstate New York woman accused of causing the death of a 4-year-old girl she was baby-sitting.
The Press and Sun-Bulletin of Binghamton reports (http://press.sn/1dpL8jm ) jury selection for the trial of 38-year-old Brenda Hadlick is expected to begin March 31.
Hadlick was indicted in April on a felony count of criminally negligent homicide after she allegedly struck and killed Kenzee Wheeler on Nov. 15, 2012 while backing her vehicle out of a driveway of a home in the Broome County town of Windsor.
According to court papers, Hadlick allegedly failed to make sure the little girl was in the vehicle and properly secured before driving.
Hadlick has pleaded not guilty to the charge. She remains free on her own recognizance.
