ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A funeral is set for a state police trooper killed in a wreck on the New York State Thruway.
Services for David Cunniff of Duanesburg are being held Friday at Grace Fellowship Church in Watervliet (wah-ter-vuh-LEET'), just north of Albany.
The 35-year-old Cunniff died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a crash the previous night at Exit 27 in Amsterdam.
State police say a tractor-trailer truck slammed into Cunniff's patrol car and a car he had pulled over for speeding. The rig veered off the highway for some unknown reason and hit the back of Cunniff's patrol car, sending it 50 yards into an embankment. Cunniff was partially thrown from the car and suffered massive head injuries.
He is survived by his wife and two young sons.
