WAWAYANDA, N.Y. (AP) — State police say a 51-year-old man has fatally shot his 32-year-old wife inside their upstate New York home before turning the gun on himself.
Troopers say they responded to a report of a murder-suicide around 12:15 a.m. Thursday in the Orange County town of Wawayanda, 55 miles northwest of Albany.
Police say their preliminary investigation has determined that Manuel Lara killed his wife, Ada, with a shotgun during a domestic dispute in a bedroom in their home. Troopers say Lara then shot himself with the same weapon.
Troopers say the bodies were found by a relative who called 911.
The investigation is continuing.
