CORTLAND, N.Y. (AP) — About 30 people face charges after mobs of drunken, rowdy college students filled the streets of Cortland to celebrate an annual football rivalry weekend.
Police tell local media outlets that several thousand people were in the streets Saturday to celebrate the 55th annual Cortaca Jug game between Ithaca College and the State University of New York at Cortland. The streets were littered with beer cans, plastic cups, and debris thrown into the crowds.
Cortland Police Chief Michael Catalano tells media outlets that extra police manpower was brought in from surrounding communities and state police.
Cortland won the Div. III game, played in Ithaca, 28-24.
