NY man charged in car, bus crash pleads not guilty

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man has pleaded not guilty to drunk driving and other charges after police say he crashed into a school bus, fled and hit a car driven by a pregnant woman.

Kyle Norton was arraigned Saturday on a DWI charge, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal possession of a controlled substance and other counts.

Newsday reports ( ) the 37-year-old East Islip (EYE'-slihp) man was silent during his arraignment. His lawyer entered the plea.

Suffolk County police say Norton rear-ended a school bus carrying six children in Brentwood on Friday. They say four kids on the bus, the pregnant driver and her two children were treated for minor injuries and released.

Bail was set at $2,000 cash.

Norton is due back in court Dec. 18.
