Teen charged with damaging central NY wind tower

November 6, 2013

LOWVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they've charged a teenager with criminal mischief after he fired a gun at a central New York wind tower, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

Troopers say 18-year-old Joshua Stocking of Lowville fired a 7mm rifle at a wind tower in his Lewis County hometown, located 60 miles northeast of Syracuse.

Police say the windmill's owner, EDP Renewable Energy, is still tallying the damage but estimates it to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.

It couldn't immediately be determined if Stocking had a lawyer.
