GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) — A 47-year-old Hudson Valley man has been convicted of aggravated vehicular homicide in the alcohol-related crash that killed his wife last year.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (http://bit.ly/Hw4CZc ) that an Orange County Court jury on Wednesday found Luis Herrera guilty for the drunken-driving accident that claimed the life of Carolyn Rivera-Colon.

The 34-year-old died after the car Herrera was driving on Nov. 17, 2012 crashed on Route 9W in Newburgh, where the couple lived.

Authorities say Herrera was drunk and high on marijuana when the early morning crash occurred. His license was suspended at the time for a 2010 conviction for driving while ability impaired by drugs.

Herrera faces a minimum of 4?½ to nine years in prison and a maximum of 12?½ to 25 years. His lawyer plans to appeal the verdict.
