NEW YORK (AP) — Macy's says it has looked into an actor's claim that he was stopped because of his race while shopping at the flagship Manhattan store.
The company says no employees were involved in any detention or questioning of Rob Brown.
Brown works on the HBO series "Treme." He says he was detained nearly an hour by police on June 8 after employees contacted authorities about possible credit card fraud. The actor, who is black, has filed a lawsuit.
Macy's says there's no record of any employee contacting authorities about Brown's purchase. The store says police officers requested use of a room in the building and that request was granted.
Brown's account comes after claims from two black shoppers said they were racially profiled at Barneys New York.
