HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. (AP) — The parents of a woman shot to death a year ago in a family dispute say they think the 73-year-old accused in her death is alive and hiding in the woods and caves of New York's Harriman State Park.

Eugene Palmer, of Haverstraw, disappeared in September of 2012 after telling a relative he'd just killed his estranged daughter-in-law, Tammy Palmer.

Police found his truck in the hilly 45,000-acre park, north of New York City. A long search turned up nothing.

Tammy Palmer's parents, John and Violet Pannirello, tell The New York Times ( ) they think he's still out there.

Palmer had been visiting the park since he was a child and was an experienced hunter.

The missing man's sons tell the newspaper they think their father died in the forest.
