September 26, 2013
Associated Press

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a woman suffered a leg injury when she was apparently pushed in front of an on-coming train at the White Plains station by a homeless man.

Metro-North says the victim, a woman in her 20s, was struck by an empty northbound train just after 11 a.m. Wednesday. She was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and is expected to survive.

A Metro-North spokeswoman tells The Journal News (http://lohud.us/16rKiUX) that the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Howard Mickens, is in MTA police custody. Charges against him are pending. It wasn't clear if he had a lawyer.
