ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York officials have approved $452 million in grants and low-cost loans for drinking water and sewage system projects statewide.

The $8 million in grants and $444 million in low-cost financing come through the state Environmental Facilities Corp., which reported $1.93 billion in project financing last year for 170 municipalities.

Approved projects include $350 million in subsidized short-term loans for the New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority for wastewater projects in all five boroughs and $43 million for Rockland County to complete wastewater collection systems.

Others are $7 million for four projects in northern New York, $28 million for four projects in the greater Albany area, $6 million for three projects in western New York; and $14 million altogether for projects in Oswego, Dutchess and Steuben counties.
