After NYC mayor bid, Quinn focuses on council work

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn says she's focusing on accomplishing lawmakers' priorities this fall, not on thinking about her unsuccessful mayoral campaign.

Quinn said Thursday there's a lot of legislative work to do before her term ends in December. She's also do political work to help elect the eventual Democratic nominee.

She says she'll enthusiastically back whoever that is.

Quinn came in third in Tuesday's Democratic primary. An official vote count hasn't yet been conducted to determine whether there will be a runoff between top vote-getter Bill de Blasio (BLAH'-zee-oh) and second-place finisher Bill Thompson.

Quinn foresees de Blasio prevailing. But she says it's up to Thompson to decide whether to press on.

Quinn sought to be New York's first female and first openly gay mayor.
